Well I had a few hours to kill this weekend so I fabbed some splitters to see what they would look like. I've been back and forth and I wanted something small and relatively unobtrusive that wouldn't kill my ground clearance. So I fabbed these and I think I like them. I started with plexiglass and polyester resin and cloth, and gave up and went to a wood core with fiberglass cloth and resins. The leading edges are about 3/4 inch high and nicely rounded and shaped. Ignore the rough center sections- they are underneath the stock apron so you can't see it and I couldn't justify another hour finishing it perfectly... The tail is tapered and it disappears into the front fender well before the wheel edge (no "wings"). It's certainly simple enough.

To mount I used 4 bolts; three in an 8" x 2" piece of steel that I welded nuts onto so that with washer head bolts I could sandwich the MTec apron between the splitters and the mount.

The fourth fastener was for the trailing "tail" and I used a #25 TORX screw into a stock BMW clip to keep everything tight. It actually looks better underneath than the photo shows (I used a rubberized undercoating on the bottom and the pic looks ratty).

And the whole thing comes togetehr to look like this. Excuse the pics- I was in shadows and using my wife's camera but I'm actually pleased with the conservative look and it cost about $2 for the hardware. Maybe it will even protect my MTec apron by being sacrificial when I inevitably bottom out or hit a parking curb...

Looks pretty good man. Ever thought about having the splitter reach the end of the bumper/fender so it fits the whole corner? it would complete it even better.

I made 4 or 5 shapes out of cardboard first and I started going all the way back to the front of the wheel well - but I chickened out because I thought it looked too big. I think for me it's about right- maybe I'm too sensitive and notice everything on my own wheels but it really does sems to stick out there quite a bit already.

For someone who wants a more aggressive look I bet it would be pretty cool-

Yeah- it was amazing- fell right off the car in front of me and has stayed there- I figured it was fate...

But with >$5k of M and MTec stuff I figure it's OK- no other badging of any sort so I ain't posing...

I think if the splitter were extended all the way to the edge of the bumper would look sick!
