I was also planning to put on the m5 front end on my 545i. I was frustrated with my hamann add-on for my stock bumper. It was too flimsy. So I was going to put the m5 front cuz it had a better and strong hamann add-on. But now Hamann just made the add-on on the m-tech front. I think it looks just as good as the m5 w/ add-on. But.......I know the m5 front looks better if it didnt have add-ons. But with add-on lip....M-tech actually looks better since it has fog-lights.

Check it out:

1. congrats Bo on yo' ride edit: no M tech looks better

2. BUSTA Bro when I posted that nobody can do it w/o working on fenders I was attacked, many here said hey no go for it etc etc...
I am sorry for you I would IMMED!!! Get the M5 fenders (from quad_m eg.) and forget this stuff.

Besides coping M f?nf you need to work a lot but ok some ppl want it, it can be done and it is SUPER COOL as a mod is concerned, but needs WORK and proper.

Hope bro all will be cool for ya', fingerz cro$$ed and peace

Busta, I applaud you for actually trying to get that bumper on given the cost and facts. I really wanted to do it myself but I didnt have the balls to face the hassels.

I had a feeling that you would need m5 sideskirts as that top view of the gap is HUGE. Not sure what a bodyshop can do without cracking or making putty around the front bumper.

If it were me I would sell the bumper because fenders/paint/install is gonna cost another 1200 at least...

thanks xexysus, You're part of the reason I wanted to post this thread. I remember reading your posts asking for answers but everyone kept saying it was a direct bolt on

I have a very long weekend...I'll sit down and think if I finish this project or sell the parts at a huge loss.

busta, i really do beleive that the bumper can be adjusted to fit the fenders. if i roll out to south coast or something maybe we could meet up and you can take a look at mine. judging from the pics maybe something can be used to bring the bumper in to line up with the fenders. dont give up just yet

I'm not ready to give up just yet...what I need to find is a body shop that'll actually work on the fenders themselves and not give me a generic "you need to buy the correct parts/fenders" answer.

looking at the sixth picture it looks like a bolt or screw is missing that would hold the bumper in
When I first installed the bumper itself I had a half inch difference from the end of the bumper to where that screw is installed. I figured the body shop would make it fit....looks like they didn't....I'll have to check later

i think body shops get lazy sometimes and want to hurry and move to their next project. usually in the beginning they let you know the cost. they dont want to spend any more time than they have to on a project like that because they are not going to benefit from it. they are always quick to say its not working. i think they get afraid of something that is not the "norm" for them as when i first started my project i had the techs baffled saying "you want to do what now" we here on the forums are far more educated than they are at these type of projects. as you know i have one side that was a stock fender and my body shop was able to fit it within less than an eighth of an inch or less. everyone, look at this thread. http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=...m5+front+bumper
there is a perfect picture which shows the difference between the M5 Fender and the stock Fender and you will also notice BMW-ALPINA's pics which show the perfect fitment with his M5 front bumper and stock fenders. it can be done!!

Hi Busta,

Great mod

I wonder, why don't you heat the bumper, on the fender mounting edge and below, with a heat gun? That way, you can turn it inner and hold it in place, with the below the headlight fender's bolts.
You can curve a heated bumper anyhow you like, you can even fold it ...but don't do it on yours

Take care of the heat gun (hot air blower), not too close ...you will deform the shape and you will destroy the bumper.

when I read his story thats what I thought, big body shop`s like that they just want to prime paint and install
right away get the next the customer as fast as they can thats why they get rich fast and grow bigger.

but as bmw-alpina did and rpav indicates it can be done for sure. its all about patience and "the attention"
of the body shop for your car and to you.

Busta if you are in cali you should contact Ryan James he will help you
for sure to fix your car properly. RJ`s paint shop @ (925) 7304911
