ISHBU that's a nice car maak maak! Now if only I could ship my car out to Thailand with a few parts to get it made over like that!

I know the cars are expensive out there and labor cheap but what's the cost of parts like? OEM are probably expensive but do you have any local manufacturers that have quality parts, wheels etc?

hey ISHBU, since you're back, can you give me some details bout the LCI lights retrofit. I'm a foreigner and used to being ripped off here, but since you're on the board, help me out a little.

It's very expensive.. (for example I paid about 100k for a Mini Cooper S) You're right about the labor, and it is also helpful to have a paint shop at your disposal. The cost for the parts aren't cheap, though there are copies of those parts made out of fiberglass. I ordered all OEM from a tuning shop in Thailand that I thought was cheaper than ordering from the dealer, but when it come down to it.. It was about the same and I saved alot on the paint and labor from the dealer, so my case is alittle different than other. But now I'm doing it all in house, with my new automotive life style company that also has an after market tuning shop.

That would be going back to when I used to be an uneducated customer, and didn't know much about the pricing etc. Over the course of about 2 years, I spent about 35 close to 40K on the car from interior work all the way to aftermarket parts, and the most recently paint job transformation but it's all worth it..

I got the OEM from Germany, the first test "lab rat" for the minor change head lights... I had some problem with it before but I work just fine now. It was the new wirings that needed, and ofcourse ECU resetting was needed. I got ripped off too so I'm not much better than you I'm afraid.. I guess it's really come down to if you're willing to pay or not. Sorry I'm not much of a help..

Thanks for the kind comments guys..

For many things over there it seems like the cost is based more on your ability to pay than anything. My wife will be out there for a while and seemed to think that she could just pick up some wheels and other parts cheap for my "new" car. Just hope she doesn't bring my back some fluffy dice and "go faster" stripes...

Looks like your place does nice work, next time I'm over there I'd like to swing by.

What the HECK is going on......wouldn't it be simpler to go to the dealer and buying a car, rather than building one!
