Mudflaps-please help

Two questions:
1. Are mudflaps worth getting, living in the UK, i think they probably will be. Do they stop the the body from degrading, and do they stop the water spraying back.
2. How easy are they to fit, and anybody know exactly how to fit them. Wondering if money can be saved fitting the yourself instead of bmw

I have them and I feel that they work quite well. I don't mind the way that they look.
I had the dealer install them while it was going in for something else but I'm sure that with even a little knowledge of which end of a screw driver to hold, it can be done in a few hours or less.

My dealer put on the mudflats. Apparently they are not easy to instal. They are great in terms of protecting the surrounding paint - it is just getting wintery here in the Northeast US and I can see a lot of muck that accumulating in only a few minutes of driving.
They also look good, particularly with a dark colored car.

Call your dealer. They'll have them and if not, they'll order them for you.

I dont' suppose anybody has actually fit them thereselves. Are they bolted on using a specialy type of bolt? There for a black car, so they will look fine

I had mine done last week at the dealer, one hour labor charge. The front part number is 82 16 0 148 711 and the rear is 82 16 0 148 712. They were $49.75 per pair.

There was a couple of older threads on this topic.
I bought a pair at the dealer for ~ $50 and installed them easily myself on the rear. Didn't even remove the tires. I don't mind being a little different with only rear flaps; even prefer it. Mudflaps on rear are a must for protection due to undercut of rear quarterpanels but on the front, the wheel well protects adequately.
