I have a headlight malfunction alert coming up on my 530, one of the halos. If I modded with these, or any other set of headlights would that solve my problem. Also, if I ever had a problem with those lights, will I be alerted of errors in the same way since they are aftermarket?

What exactly is your alert/malfunction? Is it the AE's/parking lamps or the headlamp itself? If its the AE's and one or both sides is out then yes these will fix it. I have them and love them. No error messages either. As for the MTEC's alerting me to an outage, I am not sure but I am sure someone else can tell us.

Do you have stock halogens now? MTEC's are known to be good and I haven't seen any reports of errors on iDrive for E60 or least not on this board.

If the bulbs don't work you will get the same errors you get like with your stock bulbs.

Yep stock halogens right now, but plan on getting the MTecs, probably next week.

keep forgetting to ask this, but will it change the brightness of the lamps...or do need to have a specific bulb for that?

The brightness of your angel eyes really depends on how they design the LED output and to focus the light into the rings. Plus the brightness of your angel eyes drop when your headlights come on or if you switch it over to your parking lights, however it is possible to code your car to keep the voltage constant thus keeping it at full brightness at all times.

Was the brightness question related to how your angel eyes looked during the day?

Not applicable to AE's man... you are talking about bulbs for the headlamps and fogs... AE's are usually 3w, 5w, 6w cree...
