Hey guys i am trying to get my ipod installed in my 6er but no clue what i need. Anyone more knowlegeable please enlighten me on what i need and what i need to do.?

 

First burn a cd or dvd with a couple of mp3`s on it and see if you can play mp3 files from the main cd/dvd.
Have you got an AUX port or usb port?
Second if you have neither then the Ipod interface is needed or a dension gateway.

If you can`t play mp3`s at all you will need to have the mp3 retrofit done before any thing else.

Test with a few MP3 files on a CD-R formatted with ISO 9660 burned at the slowest possible speed. If it does not play in your vehicle, does it play on one of the new vehicles on the showroom floor? If your vehicle supports MP3 and has to have the MP3 capability retrofitted, please see:

Yeah i can play MP3. Where can i find the USB or Aux option?

 

For original BMW equipment, there are:

RealOEM: E63 650i iPod connection retrofit kit
Controls iPod via factory audio. Charges iPod as well. For iPhone, an updated cable may or may not work with this kit.

RealOEM: E63 650i Accessory Control Menu ACM
Looks like an aux input port comes as part of this ACM. Have to select Aux input in factory audio, then control iPod directly. A separate charging connection is required.
