OK Ladies and Gentlemen,

My 08 535 just hit 50K miles, the maintenance and warranty expired. What mods can I do to increase the horse power and torque but still maintain dependability?

I already have RPI Cat back (love the sound!), scoop and air filter.

Thanks everyone!

You definitely need to get a tune for that car, it is the one mod that brings that car to its potential. There are a couple options out there, Cobb, JB4 and I see that you are in the valley, I had OE-tuning/Gintani flash my car over a year ago and have no regrets about their tune.

I installed the JB4 and for the money, it has to be the best performance mod out there. The power increase is wild! Excellent customer service too.

id go with cobb from my own experiences. Cobb claims big gains for stage one stock setup. however besides tune, AR design downpipes, aftermarket charge pipe diverter or BOV (prefference is up to you), DCI i like aFes stage 2. and drop your car on coilovers.

Robert - with a Jb4 or Cobb tune, you are looking at about 50-60/HP and 60-80/tq increase. Neither mod, at stage 1, require any additional modifications and there are hundreds of people running these safely. The Jb4 is $500 and hardwired into your ECU and the Cobb is a flash tuner that plugs into your OBDII port (DIY). Positives and negatives on both sides of those but they both truly enhance the car and are well worth the $$.

If you wanted more information - here is everything I've done to my 535i (and it screams)! https://5series.net/forums/topic/121...9#entry1422519

I gained about 70hp and 80tq. I have since added a full catback exhaust and now the car moves even better.

Definitely good guys, I like the fact that the shop is local and if you pony up a little extra dough, you can get your car dyno'd before and after to see the delta in gains.

Whatever tune you do decide on, I highly suggest downpipes as well. I was unsure about them until I installed mine. My 335 is so stupid fast that I don't get good traction until 3rd gear, and now when I drive my 550 I feel like something is wrong with it. The n54 is an amazing motor and it's potential is only now starting to be realized. If you're a big horsepower junkie, you may want to check out http://procedetuning.com/. They are running a 627hp e90 with a single turbo. They will be releasing the kit and pricing for it soon - and although I love my JB4, I think these guys are the current winners of the 'tuning wars'.
