From Wikipedia on Chip/ECU tuning: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chip_tuning
From Singh Autosport Blog on dynos: http://singhautosport.blogspot.com/2008/10...nformation.html
Just to let you know Singh is the only company who knows how to tune the new X5M and X6M.

since its a FAQ page, perhaps they can come and explain the difference between their tunes, scientificly, compared to other tuners? I think its something we would all want to know.
He has his secrets to the tune. It's like me asking how you make your exhaust and how it is different versus Gintani.

If you guys want to answer some questions on here, its fair to explain how and why you know the answer. Here is some background about me.
1. First car modded 1985 maxima V6
- exhaust (did nothing but make noise)
2. 1989 240sx.
modded the intake, exhaust, pulley, piggyback tuning, brakes, suspension, ignition control
(not a spec faster at Atco raceway with all the mods compared to the car stock)
3. 1990 Eclipse GSX
intake, exhaust, downpipe, piggyback tuning, intercooler, race tranny, turbo upgrade
(did the tuning myself, car ran 12.4 in the 1/4. Starting to get on the right track but some mods were taken out)
4. 1991 Eclipse GSX
stock intake this time, exhaust, race tranny, clutch, 4spdr diff, axles, turbo, stock piping, intercooler, tuning (myself)
car with less mods now ran 11.8 in the 1/4
5. 1992 MR2
This is the first car where I made most of my own parts and tuned it. The car ran 11.0 @122mph with LESS mods than anyone else and it had 160k+ miles. my own intake, exhaust, dp, turbo, supra intercooler with my own piping, clutch, ss man, converted to map sensor, etc.
6. Scion Xb
fun and challenging car to tune and modify. I was humilate a 350z at streets of willow (check youtube). Did my own tuning with emanage software. turbo, dp, exhaust, brakes, suspension and other misc.
7. Noble M400
most of the mods were heat management. We tuned in house with MBE factory software. mods are new cams, exhaust, turbo, manifold (exh and int) race tranny, and TONS of heat management work. Most of the power was from the tuning of the software. Car was featured in fed 2006 issue of road and track
8. Porsche 911tt
Again heat management, charge coolers, exhaust, stock intake, bmc filter and tuning. Apprx 650hp.
9. sky 2.4
This car was a beast. At 421whp on a 2800lb car, it was just beastly. I tuned this car from scratch, down to the ignition maps, fuel trim, power enrichment/rpm/throttle position, etc to torque management, fuel pocketing, etc. mods too many to list.
10. m5
you guys know about this car but ess did the tuning as I cant justify spending the money on the software for this car. We'll let guys who tune BMWs all day long deal with this as long as they are willing to work with us in the facts. intake, exhaust, headers, oil cooler, pulley kit and tune. 580hp
There are others but these are some of the cars I have worked on and personally tuned. I have tuned some corvettes, chargers, GTOs and more.

Well Jags does not go on forums because he lets his vendors see his product. However, you can call him and discuss the science with him.
He has his secrets to the tune. It's like me asking how you make your exhaust and how it is different versus Gintani.

We make our exhaust based on exhaust gas velocity. The reason we dont make the piping bigger than stock in many cases (like other companies) is because depending on the power curve you are looking for, you need to size and route the exhaust tubing a certain way. This allows the exhaust to exit the engine quickly. Fast in, fast out = a higher volumetric efficiency. When you do this, you make more power. If you look at the meistershaft exhaust, the dinan, the eisenman, etc. they are all similar to each other. Ours looks completely different than their exhausts because we approaching the performance in a different way. I mean this in no disrespect at all bro but if you are not tuning cars for a living its not fair to come on here and say one thing or another about different tuners out there (yes, many are full of crap but not all). I have seen for myself another company tune the X5M/X6M and thats the only reason I am saying this.

For what its worth, I did talk to Vincent today and he did clear things up with me. I think a lot of talk on sat was due to egos so atleast we got down to the truth of the matter. Hes going to bring an M5 here probably next week to do some dyno testing. Maybe DB can come video the session?

Ask Eloy,
Based on what you just said about tuning and exhaust, should the tune be the same for a stock exhaust and yours? If I wanted more low end can your exhaust be made/modified to accomplish that? I don't get to drive over about 80mph very much so top end power isn't as important to me, getting to that speed is.
I guess I could have started a new thread and ask that but I would have been told to use the search function.
Go ahead, flame suit is on.

very fair question and I have the same one. tried to ask on the thread about the guy who installed his RPI exhaust and got "sparked" by turboawd about asking it. he claims BMW's, other than turbos, are already tuned to their max and further tuning wouldn't do anything (my interpretation of what he said anyway).
I have just got my car a few months back, have added the RPI exhaust and ram scoop, and want to get it tuned, lower the suspension, and get 20" tires at some point when i have the money - just trying to explore all the possibilities and benefits of mods/tunes to get their when I can.
look forward to this answer, especially in relation to how a tune should be different for the RPI exhaust to maximize hp and torque gains.
