Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, I have always used Genuine BMW Synthetic Oil- 5W30 because that's what the manual says. According to Mobil One website, http://www.mobiloil....s.aspx?option=2, it is recommending 0W40 for my 2006 530i instead of what I have always used (5w30). Should I stick with 5w30 or get what Mobil One website recommended???
Thanks in advance.![Thumbsup](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/thumbsup.gif)

Thank you, sir.
FYI: According to my manual for 2006 530i, it says: "Approved oils are in SAE classes 5W-40 and 5W-30. These oil may be used for driving in all ambient temperatures."
I guess my car is okay with MOBIL ONE 0W-40.
Have a great weekend.
PS: For anyone who is interested, don't forget to use your AAA Card or reserve online for the extra 10% discount at NAPA.

Thanks everyone
According to my servic manual for 2007 530i, same as yours "Mobil 1 5W-40 and 5W-30"
Walmart has the best deal for Mobil 1 5W-30: 5qt for $24.97 while 5W-40: 4qt/$27 and 0W40: 1qt/~$7. I always use 0W40 because the recommodation from BMW web. I just realized that the serve manual recommand the 5W-30 or 40 after read yours.
I hope the 5W30 will be as good as 0W40. I have no idea what is the difference between them?
Thanks

I've been running it for about a year. Wal-mart has it for about $6.50 a quart, but I get it from a local chain for a few cents less. Good stuff!
