Suede headliner/ trunk, 3 way front speakers, four 8" subs in rear shelf, ACM, iPod dock in ash tray using gateway 500 with MP3 text and video on screen, MRTM aluminum pedals/ door pins, 10 farad cap, sound processor, line conditioner, 2 amps ( 4x100 and 2x200)

Are you running 32/36 on 19's (245/35/19. 275/30/19) ?
I have the same tires as the OP except that I did not change the rear to a 285 from a 275. Mine is a 2004 sport package, 245-40-18 front and 275-35-18 rear. I just checked the pressure chart on my door and it shows 32-38 psi front and 35-42 psi rear ( 4 persons figure lower, then max load figure higher ). As far as I understand it, the whole idea is to get the pressure at a point where the tire makes even contact from the center to the outsides and has even tire wear.
The OP is using the Max pressure shown on the door frame. The lower set of numbers shown on the door frame, 32 front and 35 rear, are good up to 4 passengers weight limit.

Well, I tried decreasing the tire pressure to 34 front, 38 rear. I notice a little difference but not much in the way the car drives. The ride is smoother and the steering actually feels a little bit more responsive.
I thought it was interesting that everyone so far has said their door panel shows lower tire pressures, so I took a photo of my door panel sticker. It shows recommended tire pressure of 36psi / 44psi.... it still seems odd that other owners have different recommendations. I have a 2005 545i with the sport package. The vehicle shipped with the OEM dunlop later replaced by bridgestone run flats.

Absolutely trust it! Unless Michelin says otherwise. I had a set of the Bridgestone Blizzaks RF, and they were great. Until a flat! :thumbsdown: I go the Michelins for winter driving and they are as quiet as can be. I feel like the old commercial of the X5 with the angels on each wheel.
