I'm up to about 700miles now on the new tires. I have had no problems with noise as mentioned by others in this thread. I find them much more quiet than the bridgestone run flats they replaced. The responsiveness / sharpness in the steering fell is better, so I'm happy with these. A little break-in seems to have helped.

I'm still confused on tire pressure. The recommended pressure on my door frame is a 44psi rear / 36psi front. When I had runflats, I liked this high tire pressure. I see most people with non-run flats seem to inflate them less, so I'm not sure what to do. I have to say the steerign feels more crisp at higher pressures, so right now I'm using 42 / 36, but compared to everyone else that sounds freakishly high.

I run 32 psi front and 36 psi rear on my Pilot Sport AS. These pressures give me even tire wear. I would double check your tire pressure numbers, anything above 2.8 bars seems way too high.

Are you running 32/36 on 19's (245/35/19. 275/30/19) ?

I have the same tires as the OP except that I did not change the rear to a 285 from a 275. Mine is a 2004 sport package, 245-40-18 front and 275-35-18 rear. I just checked the pressure chart on my door and it shows 32-38 psi front and 35-42 psi rear ( 4 persons figure lower, then max load figure higher ). As far as I understand it, the whole idea is to get the pressure at a point where the tire makes even contact from the center to the outsides and has even tire wear.

The OP is using the Max pressure shown on the door frame. The lower set of numbers shown on the door frame, 32 front and 35 rear, are good up to 4 passengers weight limit.

I think 42 front may lead to wear in the middle of the tread. A simple way to check for potential wear problems is to go to an open parking lot. Run a piece of chalk across each tire, perpendicular to the tread line. Ease the car forward for a few rotations of the tires, then check the chalk. If it's evenly removed, you're good. If it's removed more on the edges, you need more psi. If it's removed more in the middle, you need less. Obviously, this is a very simplistic method, but I've used it for years and have had good luck with wear. 2 cents.

Well, I tried decreasing the tire pressure to 34 front, 38 rear. I notice a little difference but not much in the way the car drives. The ride is smoother and the steering actually feels a little bit more responsive.

I thought it was interesting that everyone so far has said their door panel shows lower tire pressures, so I took a photo of my door panel sticker. It shows recommended tire pressure of 36psi / 44psi.... it still seems odd that other owners have different recommendations. I have a 2005 545i with the sport package. The vehicle shipped with the OEM dunlop later replaced by bridgestone run flats.

Should I trust the door panel tire pressure recommendation for my Michelins?

Absolutely trust it! Unless Michelin says otherwise. I had a set of the Bridgestone Blizzaks RF, and they were great. Until a flat! I go the Michelins for winter driving and they are as quiet as can be. I feel like the old commercial of the X5 with the angels on each wheel.
