Did you scratch the paint at all?
Nope, you need to place thick masking tape on the surrounding to prevent that. the silicon glue is about 3-4MM thick to slice through.

I actually wanted to use CF fabric to replace all my grey headliner and door pillars etc, don't know how that would look though.
hmm a local member and I have thought about this, but I personally would prefer to leave it alone or do the alcantara, if I do anything at all - same effort, but you'll definitely have a nice look with the alcantara. I've asked around a couple of buddies at different shops at to what procedure would be required for this and everyone said that the material would have to be glued on top of the existing headliner. Which means bonding the material to the porous fabric of the headliner - that would require some serious adhesive. I'm not sure how porous the CF fabric will become on contact with that adhesive and I don't want to run the risk of the glue dripping down from my headliner any time the roof gets hot...

Hmmm, guess I won't be doing that then

For fun haha =P

Seriously,to swap the antenna I bought for my navigation retrofit. I will have to water test it tomorrow when its fully dried.

Water test:

1) pry open headliner tab at the bottom of the sharkfin. It will come out with some force. No screws just tabs
2) Stress test the shark fin by moving it about so as to expose any weak angles or tiny openings
3) close door and start spraying water for 5 minutes in varying forces and all angles.
4) Get in and observe if there are any leaks.
5) works best for 2nd person to be inside the car to scream if there's a major leak haha.

Enjoy!!!

I was not telling you that it WILL happen the way I described, but it is - apparently - a possibility. I don't know how much of a probability it is though.

It will be done a good month or so before the first rain! Then its just the odd day now and again through out the winter til march/april when the sun will shine non-stop again

You can do the fin in two pieces, one being you wrap the vinyl on the curved part towards the front of the car, and use a small credit card or something to tuck it into the bottom tape, then use a SNAP OFF blade to cut the extra. Then on the flat side of the fin, use a nother piece and carefully trim it to perfection, tuck it. That's how we have always done it, looks great, really can't notice the lines, safer than taking it off and less time consuming.

What happen with those CF eyebrows?

PS. If you PM me the name of the brand vinyl you have ordered, I could tell you if it will be able to conform to the textures of the fin, there are thousands of types of vinyls. If yours can take the heat, you would have to heat the vinyl with a heat gun, and stretch it right over, then work out all the bubbles with your fingers. Do this fin first before you do the roof. MAKE SURE YOU TAKE THE LEFT AND RIGHT PANELS OUT vinyl those off the car and snap them back in place.

I will go to the guy who is installing my vinyl and see what he suggests, if he can do it with the fin on I will leave it, if not I will take it off.

I know how to get the side rails out so will definitely get them wrapped separately.

The CF eyebrows group buy isn't going to well most people want to see pics before they commit.

I may end up purchasing them for extra out of the group buy, install and take pics so that everyone else can decide once and for all.

Are you still interesting in them?

Will get the name when I open the tube when I get home.
