My Ride: E60 525i Manual
![Default](https://5series.net/forums/images/icons/icon1.gif)
Good day everyone, I bought a 2004 BMW 525i Manual not too long ago, and did some of the maintenance an "old" BMW needs (all the filters, all the fluids, all the belts, spark plugs, head gasket and coolant expansion tank [if there is more to do please tell me]), I was driving the car on track and after a little while I realized the car doesn't have an LSD (I don't know why I thought it would have one to be honest).
So long story short I was wondering if there was an aftermarket LSD for the manual e60 525i.
Thanks in advance!

There are some (Quaife, wavetrac, m-factory). Youll need a medium case sized diff and Id also recommend a finned diff cover if youre going through it all

Thanks for your reply but the only ones I could find after hours of search are ones meant to be installed on the automatic variant of the 525i, I on the other hand have a manual transmission.
So what I want to know is if I have to install a diff from another model, and if so which one. Hopefully without messing up the gear ratios and final drive too much as I'm not too well versed in everything that involves transmissions and diffs, that science is still beyond me.

I believe the E60 manuals have a grain plug in the case(KEEP IT) as later cars dont usually have it.
E60/E90 have lots of transferrable parts so an aftermarket one should fit both. Just keep the diff you have now and install.
To get an LSD from any 1998+ car it would have to be an "M" model and usually ratios and sizes dont match

So a diff from a E9X 325i manual with an aftermarket LSD would work in my E60 you'd say?
Also I'd like to ask about what type of LSD I should get as I know there are a few type (Viscous Limited-Slip Differentials, Mechanical Clutch-Type LSD, Torsen & Helical Differentials, Torque Vectoring Differentials etc.)
My main goal with wanting an LSD in the first place is simple: NO ONE WHEEL PEEL/ONE TIRE FIRE
What I hate most is when I want to have a little bit of fun in my car i.e. burnouts, donuts, casual drifting, and only one tire smokes
