Bottom line: price. I don't have the discretionary income that some of you ballers have in regards to mods. I'm a total cheap-ass, very methodical and cautious. Therefore, I have been debating the Magnaflow as a safe, less-$$$ option for my 530i. I have heard a lot of clips back and forth and to be frank, they sound pretty much the same. I like them, I like the price. But my concern lies with the rumors I have heard here in the past of Magnaflow actually DECREASING horsepower. Is this true? If so, where/who proved this?

Here's what I'm planning to buy for $221 with free shipping.
Amazon Amazon

The only thing I'm kinda sad about is 3" outlets. I kinda want 3.5's.

Anyways, all of you are my inspiration over the past two years so please, chime in.

It worked for me when I was buying my magnaflow, it was the best price outhere. And as for the sound, it sounds great for that price. HP loss - not sure, i did not feel it.

Well you have to figure it's just a generic muffler and not designed specifically for the E60 so power loss is a possibility. I know quad setups tend to lose power but not sure about a single magnaflow muffler setup. If you do lose any hp it will be so minimal you probably won't feel it.

I had a magnaflow muffler setup on my E46 M3 since it was the cheapest out there and I did lose power and my car was less responsive. When I put the OEM back on it was like night and day.

I did a muffler delete and a nice tip. Sounds pretty good to me and only costs $40 for the labor. Can't get much cheaper then that

plus you lose like 40lbs. that muffler is so damn heavy

Dam since you guys talking about exhaust, I am too looking for some exhaust since I have the Mtech bumper I believe looking for some quads just somewhere around 2-500 including labor till I get the full exhaust system.
I am thinking something like this for now http://www.borla.com/products/produc...?cat=2&type=43
Which part number you think I should get? I'm thinking #400238 since its 3in in and out. Any suggestions?

I don't believe you were a member back then, but this is the very famous video that I got ripped on for many months to follow. When people refer to the "Loafers" thread, this would be it. Hahahahahahahaha!

This is that exhaust on my old 530.

By the way... does this need to be welded on or is it a clamp-type install? Do I need new pipes from the Cat to the back? I'm guessing they just cut close to where the OEM muffler ends and then weld on the new one?
