So in my search for oem m6 style wheels I came across this... http://www.originalwheels.com/bmw-wheels/m62010rims.php

used oem wheels, so I give them a call and they say they are out of stock but can order "Forged Replicas". He said they are made in germany (has stamp) and only difference is they don't have BMW stamp on inside. The price is $485.00 / wheel.

This seems pretty cheap for forged wheels right? I asked him 3 times "you're sure they're forged?" he replied "absolutely". Is there any way I can tell if he's right? Is there anything on the inside that would reveal that the wheels are indeed forged? I suppose I could ask him the weight?

Any thoughts, input or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Justin

"only difference is they don't have BMW stamp on inside" makes me think he is saying they are the same as BMW OEM wheels. All the literature from BMW says their wheels are cast alloy not forged. I do not think BMW has forged wheels

I calll BS!!! There is NO WAY an after market vendor who does not have a manufacturing facility that can offer you tru forged wheels at that price. As a rule of thumb, a set of forged, 3-piece wheels in 20"s will run you $1200-1500 PER RIM!!!

That sounds very good if they are indeed forged replicas. I understood most replicas (especially M167s) were all made in China and definately not forged. Maybe this place you contacted is importing them directly from Germany from the manufacturer who provides them to BMW as OEM. I highly doubt BMW make their own M167s. I've never come across anyone selling M167 'replicas' which are meant to be exactly the same as the real ones from a BMW dealer. Price on the website is $400....not sure why they want $485. The offset and all the other details listed on their site for these wheels does appear to be the same as the OEM specifications. I notice they've also got the correct offset difference on the M5 and M6 for the rears. The question is - why is he calling them replicas when they sound OEM without the BMW stamp ? I wouldn't call them OEM but then I wouldn't also call them replicas ! I've been looking for M167s but can't afford to buy them from the dealer. And the usual M167 replicas often seen for sale are quite different from the real ones in many ways.

Anyone used this retailer before ? Any information about these wheels would be helpful. Thanks

What are the differences between the replicas and OEM? I've looked and haven't seen anything different.
