Hello, I'm thinking of buying some 167's (used), and I wanted to see if someone could tell me how to know if they are the real deal. I've done some searches and heard some of the visual differences (Miro's have darker inlays, etc) and I've pulled the part numbers from www.realoem.com website, but.......

What do I look for inside the wheel?
I saw on a posting that someone said that M6 167's are made by BBS. Is that true, and if so should it say BBS in the wheel?
Will it say BMW or have the part number inside the rim?
Will it say ET 17 on the inside, so I know it isn't the M5 rim?
He says he just popped them right off, and they have metal valve stems....does that mean it has the TPMS inside? Is that compatible with my car (2006 550i, mine aren't metal, but I have TMPS)?

If you can't tell, I'm a bit nervous about paying cash. With my luck, they'll have a crack that I don't see or they are knockoffs that have BMW stamped inside.....or they don't roll right. He says they were taken off an M6, but now he doesn't have the M6 anymore.

Also, can anyone give me the Gary of Newport BMW price they paid for M6 167's?

Any help??

Not sure about 167's but my 166's include the following embossed on the inside of each rim (acoss the spokes):

BBS
BMW
Part number
Wheel size e.g. 91/2J x 19

Hope that helps.

IT should have some BMW part number on it.

My oem 166's have it. I actually called the dealer and asked for the numbers and then when i went to buy the rims i made sure they were on there. You should probably do the same... buyer beware!

Although you can verify the numbers, you will never be 100% sure they were built by BBS...people can replicate almost anything these days. I would make sure the buyer you're buying from is reputable, and you have some kind of warranty. I don't even know if my wheels are OEM, but I bought them from Garry Romani and he's pretty reputable on this forum.

well, everything can be duplicated as anand said, but one thing that is hard to duplicate is the curve.OEM have C curve whereas the replica has an L curve. Ask khooger wht im talking about.he will send you 2 pictures and ull get to see the difference.

plus i doubt that puplicates exist.replica ok, but duplicates are an extremely rare thing. just check wht gudge said and you're ok.yes, ET should be there
