I believe there are two offsets available for the style 167 rear wheels (17mm and 28mm). Which is the right one to get? Can I use the stock 245/35/19 and 275/30/19 tires on the 167s?

Doesn't matter which offset you get. It's your personal preference whether you want the wheels to be almost flush with the fender (17mm) or inset (28mm). The tire sizes you posted are fine.

Thanks. I prefer them to be out as far as possible. Hopefully the 17mm won't have rubbing issues.

If anyone has pics please post!

If you're going with 17mm offsets you will have to use 275/30/19 tires. 285/30/19 will cause some rubbing. The closest person I know that is running the setup you're thinking of is brian1225. He's got 167 wheels (28mm offset), H&R Sport springs, 12mm spacers, and 285/30/19 tires. His offset with the spacers is 16mm. To accommodate the tires he had to roll his fenders.

I believe that Dannydriver is running the exact 167 wheels with 17mm offsets. PM him if he has/had any rubbing problems.

Below is brian1225's ride.

No rubbing with the 17mm offset. I have 17mm offset 166s with the 275 stock Contis on my 08 550i sport and there's no rubbing. Check it:

So why do the majority opt for rear 28mm instead of 17mm offset?? 17mm offset would eliminate the need for spacers, correct?

Oh, is it possible to post some side pics? Want to see how it looks w/out lowering.

Most people are not aware that the 167 and 166 wheels have two offset choices. You can choose either 28mm or 17mm. The default offset size of the 167 wheels for the 5-series is 28mm. You have to be explicit in your order to get the 17mm offset. No spacers required with 17mm offset but you limit your tire size to 275/30/19. With 28mm offset you can choose from 275/30/19 or 285/30/19.

The picture that whay posted above appears that he isn't lowered. He's just got the stock Sport suspension.

Hey guys help me out here. Please explain the offsets to me. Here is my situation. I have a 2007 550i sport. I recently purchased, (im sorry I do not know the wheel numbers like you guys do) I call them the M5 Wheels with the Conti Sport 2 tires just like in the pictures above. Unfortunatley I purchased 4 wheel with three tires. Thats the way they came. So I went to Tire Rack.com and purchased for the rear a 285/35/19 to match the other one. (yes should have purchased two but there is only about 2,500 miles on the tires). Tire Rack being the good comapny that they are called me to inform me that the tire will not fit on a 550i and asked if I knew what I was doing. I guess I thought since it came off an M5 then it would fit a 550i. Knowing that the 7 series wheels and tires do not fit a 5 series.. Well I guess im wrong. Or am I? I would have the same set up as the pictures WHAY posted above showing the BLACK e60. I noticed though that these wheels with the tires are about 2 inches taller than what I have on now. Ok I've talked too much.... Can anyone help me out? Inform me. Set me straight.

Sorry to tell you this but you should've listened to Tirerack or asked the folks here on e60.net before purchasing the M5 wheels and tires. The wheels are fine. The problem is the tires. The correct size is 245/35/19 and 275/30/19. Some will run 285/30/19 in the rear.

Not all is lost. I know if people running 285/35/19 tires on their 545/550. But, you absolutely have to change the front to 245/35/19.
