Hey guys.

m166 M5 wheels have 12/28mm offset
m166 M6 wheels have 12/17mm offset

It seems like a lot of members are putting 10mm-12mm spacers on the rear wheel when putting M5 wheels. If this is the case, would it make more sense to just M6 wheels which has 17mm offset in the rear so that spacers are not needed?

Do I have something mixed up here? What is the reason the members go for M5 wheels instead of M6? ..... availability?

Please excuse my stupidity if above post doesn't make sense.

I can't speak for other, but for me I have an M6 wheels and I do use spacer to make it look "fuller" and for the choices.. I never consider the M5 wheel because I prefered the wheels that has lesser spokes partly because of my brake (can see it easier) and ofcouse easier to clean them

hope it help,

Yup. I didn't know M6 m166 wheels existed until I read it on one of the threads.

Question still remains whether going with M6 offsets would eliminate the need for spacers.......

Spacers are for cosmetic purposes, thats all. It makes the rear wheel \"flushed\" with the fenders.

I had the H&R 10mm rear spacers when I had my 166s.

what color is your e60? many say that the 166s look better on light colored cars and 167s on darker colored cars.
