Hello.
So lately i've been thinking about putting a V10 in a normal E60. Mainly because I like the idea of a challenge, but I also think it would be way cheaper than buying an actual M5 e60.
An e60 with no engine in my country is around 1500 euros. the v10 engine is like 5-6k on ebay. I might also need to change the diff, and surely suspension and brakes, right?
If the stock e60 is manual, can I keep the transmission from that? Manual m5 v10, way cheaper than actual m5 (which is like 35k), sounds awesome.
What can go wrong or be a headache?
Is it worth it?

You are looking into major swap and totally not worth it IMO. There’s an engine transmission various modules harness diff axles subframe suspension etc and 100s of things I am not mentioning. It’ll cost shitload of money and in the end you’ll end up with hacked up 520 that will cost you plenty of time and money. It will be cheaper to actually buy the M5 since you will recoup money once you’ll get bored with it and sell it. Now imagine trying to sell the one you would build… Not the best idea in my book.
