No need to worry my friend, just belive me if you want SMG paddles for your steptronic car wait a some days and buy an M5 wheel (bmw or ebay) and then Hobi's kit and there you go. See the page above all the rest prods I wud have risk this no. my 0.02s.

There might be a problem with switch hexagon airbag to sport round airbag that the fanfare/horn will not be working.
Hexagon airbag has two wires for fanfare and round airbag has only one wire for fanfare. In order to have the fanfare to work, dealer has to reprogram the ECU in the steering wheel to make it work.
One thing that make me nervous when I install the kit is the airbag light comes on and I have to take it to dealer. The scenario is the first time we install the kit, we accidentally have the airbag light on. Uninstall everything and bring the car to dealer for reset the airbag light. If it happens again and again, I don't know what the heck to do with it.
Anyhew, I'm very anxious waiting for Hobi's website on. I want to buy some good stuffs from him, too

According to BMW TIS, new airbag needs to be activated through BMW program at the dealer. Also, what I see is the hex airbag has two wires for the horn and round airbag has only one wire for the horn. Straight swab does not work. Touch other wire accidentally will create "Pass. Res. System malfunction" notice on i-Drive screen everytime you start up.
Peter was in the situation that he switched from hex airbag to round one, and I'm wondering if he can still horn chicks on the street

Hobi fitted his kit to my car a few months ago. I supplied the M5 steering wheel, steering wheel paddles and new round airbag. Just to confirm there are NO problems swapping to the round airbag from the standard hexagon airbag. No recoding is needed, no airbag warning lights come on and the horn works fine.
As has been said before this is all plug and play but you will need to be confident in removing the old steering wheel.
I am sure Hobi's instructions will be very detailed. He is an electronics wizard with all these mods
I use the paddles all the time now.....it is so much fun!!!!!

Hobi fitted his kit to my car a few months ago. I supplied the M5 steering wheel, steering wheel paddles and new round airbag. Just to confirm there are NO problems swapping to the round airbag from the standard hexagon airbag. No recoding is needed, no airbag warning lights come on and the horn works fine.
As has been said before this is all plug and play but you will need to be confident in removing the old steering wheel.
I am sure Hobi's instructions will be very detailed. He is an electronics wizard with all these mods
