Guys, what's the story with these fins on the underside of the spoiler - do they have to be removed or are they guides of some sort ?

Anyone with DIY story ?

TIA,

Andy

They are guides. It helps sit on the curve of the trunk more properly.

Check !
I read a TIS m5 rear installation some time ago that mentioned something that resembles those fins have to be removed - so I thought I'd better check first...

I guess those fins prevent spoiler being smashed down. I still leave it on.

Could any technician confirm on '05> TIS (vehicle: E60/M5/2005 document: REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS/51-VEHICLE EQUIPMENT/71-ISOLATION FREE PARTS/5171407-M5 REAR SPOILER REPLACEMENT)

Because I saw in my mechanic's Greek TIS, that they advice to remove them after painting, so, I think those fins, are holding points for the body shop to help them hold the spoiler upright when painting.

Now I have you get blade to yank those fins out
I have my spoiler sitting in my garage as part of parting out
