has anyone here made the move and completed the mod that Fred has done. I have been thinking about it but have been getting much mixed reviews. What do you all think and if anyone who has completed it, please post pics, thanks.

Very cool I am fortunate to live near my530i (NorCal) and have personally seen his E60 with all his cool mods. Absolutely first class results, you'll love it!

how did he get the use of the M5 plate around the shifter? Is this an easy mod to add to Fred's mod? I like the look of the M5 shifter with the M5 shifter plate..? thanks

can you post further away pictues. I want complete the mod from My530i and add the M5 center trim. Did he have to cut anything? How hard was it to add the plate. looks great \

It's very easy to just install the gear knob & center console....just pull out your stock gear knob & u can remove everything....but the wiring up is more complex.....

RHD E60 M5 center console looks very different from LHD version too...

The wiring requires remove center woodtrim and center dash cover. Also, there'll be at least 4 additional connectors to connect under center shift plate to enable light, DSC on/off, and DS/D switch. Each button at least has to to have power(light source with dim) and ground. For functional button, there should be at least 3 to 4 wires.
Converting DS to D with Power button is a challenge unless a simple gate is needed. For DSC, it's a cakewalk.
Kudos to your great car, Wilson!
