It looks like if you just have pulled out the old gearknob and pushed in the M5 SMG gearknob?
Is this is what you have done? If it's this simple I want it too, since I also don't need the lights working

The carbon M5 SMG gearknob is awesome

Yes you can switch them, however if you wish to have the light work like it should , you will need My530i to make you a harness. Hope this helps...

You have to disable the "P" so you can take the key out without having to engadging P (so you can keep it in "N" since the SMG base plate doesn't go all the way up to "P"), the opening of the SMG base plate is the same size as the automatic base plate (at least on the right handed drive) so it's an easy swaps.

hope this helps,

The wiring harness is ideal.

Your mod looks awesome.
But just to make sure: if I still use my old base plate console with only an M5 gearknob, without any further modifications, can I still use my P R N D?

The base plate cannot be used on Steptronic since you'd yank out the plate in P and DS. That's why some people requested me makeing the POWER button become D/DS switch which you can switch from D to DS by pusing POWER button. This was done and I sold two sets: one to vlsas and chillabolic. It took too much time to make. One whole day/kit.

Anyone here?

If I just pull out my automatic gearknob and push in the M5 SMG gearknob. Will it work ( P R N D )?
Just a very simple question. (I only want to change gearknob and nothing else)

It should, but it won't light up anywhere. Just make sure if you ever valet your car, they don't go assuming your car is an M5 and in N, when it's not and let off the brake or you'll find your car driving off by itself. Hahahahaha!
