Yeah of course guys, if you wanted all the nice features of the OEM mirrors then you should definitely get the OEM M5 mirrors.

But if you just like the look of M5 mirrors and want a nice far less expensive upgrade from what you currrently have without the nice functionality of OEM then get these.
i did.

Not trying to steal this thread, but it seems like an appropriate place to mention it...
I just bought a set of brand new OEM M5 mirrors from Schmiedmann for approx EUR 775. Same price for pre-LCI and LCI. Includes puddle lights and Autofold. This is their standard price. This is the link to the M5 mirrors on their website: Schmiedmann OEM M5 mirrors
I opted to pay an additional EUR 150 to have them supplied painted.
They also do them with the auto Dimming Mirror function for EUR 1400.

Cool but that's equivalent to $1100 + shipping for replica mirrors? I think, I'd rather buy OEM ones for a little more.

so these come out to about $700 painted and shipped and its just basically a good lookin m5 shell

oem ones come in around $1400 or so non painted but with the features

thats a tough call, i love autodip for reverse but thats it, dont care about puddle lights or heated glass really

Fiberglass kills the deal, really - you spend 700 on a pair off these and then in a year your mirrors will begin to deteriorate just from weather conditions and temperature changes... maybe ...

How's the fit on them? Anyone got close-ups of these things installed?

everyone who complains about it either hasnt had it or cracked theirs and complained about that too

i never had any issues when i had a fiberglass kit on my wrx, it held up perfectly

So, how come they don't come with all the options?

I mean, don't get me wrong, dude - I have some fibergalss (won't tell you where), but mirrors get a lot of Sunlight and in the winter they are often under snow - temperature changes could be enough to actually affect them. It would depend on the quality of the parts - that's why I asked about fitment and pics of them installed.

So, how come they don't come with all the options?

Schmiedmann offer 2 of the M5 mirror configurations / options:
1. M5 mirror with electric heating, puddle lights and electric auto fold
2. as above, plus the Auto Dimming mirror/glass option

I think things work slightly different in the US, but in Europe you can order different combinations of mirror configurations/options. In addition, the option which tilts the passenger mirror down to the kerb when reversing (i.e. parking) only works if you have the Full Electric Memory Seat option (included in the Comfort Seats option). So that's why Schmiedmann offer different spec mirrors, because not everyone wants the full spec (expensive) version and not everyone has the necessary other options in their car to enable full use of the mirror's functionalities. Hope that makes sense
