M5 rear bumper conversion...
Did some searching and haven't found a concrete answer...
I have a 2006 pre-LCI 550 and I'm looking to get an OEM M5 rear bumper as I'm not in love with the shape of the aftermarket M5 bumpers that are out there.
From what I understand a LCI M5 rear bumper has different mounting points from the pre-LCI cars and therefore wont fit. Question is, whether a 2006 M5 is considered LCI or pre-LCI?
I'm looking at used bumpers on online and most have been from 2006 models. What do i look for to know if they will fit my car?
Thanks!

mine is a 06 550i (pre-lci) and i used a Pre-lci M5 rear and it bolted on just fine. I actually took it to my buddies exhaust shop and when he cut the oem exhaust off we just unbolted the bumper and swapped on the m5 bumper right there and he put on the dual exhaust

Yeah.. i know the pre-lci M5 bumper will fit but is a 2006 M5 considered pre-lci? And is there any easy way to tell the pre-lci M5 bumper from the lci M5 bumper in a picture?

I think this answers your question.

Bumpers didnt change on the LCI M5.. same design. Also LCI came as 08' model year if I'm correct.

My Ride: 2008 535i LCI with sports/premium package, Sports trans with paddle shifters, CF emblems, JB4 Software, Dinan Exhaust, Navigation, M5Tech body kit, Carbon wrap interrior trim and CIC Controller.
What shape of the aftermarket M5 bumpers are you referring to? I've seen the lower center piece droop, but this can easily be cared for. As for Pre-LCI and LCI I'm not aware of any M5 difference in actual styling, probably just the PDC sensors.

LCI started in 2007. You will be just fine with a 06 OEM rear bumper. If you have exhaust questions about going from single sided to dual exhaust feel free to ask myself or tonyb635 we both have done dual exhaust on ours. Good luck!

The BMW PDF refers to the LCI starting in 2007 but I guess I could still be wrong...
