King of gays, I guess : with a petrol you can remap it and reach 7000 rpm or more . With a diesel only half crown

Anyway, a diesel member has already made it, search!

Hahaha. There is not enough red color on the tacho ring, so it could show the red line @ 5K rpm j/k

I believe that this mod can be done on diesels as well and the red line will show 5k, as tacho is taking info from DME/DDE

OH GOD, ARE YOU SAYING IS SO SIMPLE CODIFY IT AT THE DEALERSHIP ?

So I, nick, Andy, drantispy, my530i .. Are we all stupid ?

New or used the cluster ?

(Marco, puoi mandarmi un PM con tutte le istruzioni, passo passo ? Sei un grande, davvero .. Tutti qui a scercellarci e tu beffi tutti cos? :-) )

I've done the "hot-swap" but not with progmann, just by swapping the clusters with idle engine ...no success of course... I'll give it a try some time with Carsoft, but I dont think that it will work.

Congratulation Marco!
One question, do you have to put back the old cluster when you have Progman update next time?
I still prefer fuel consumption to oil gauge, but I really like the big transmission gear indicator.

Yes, most probably it will be better to re program the CIP with the old one installed otherwise it will recognise that there is a part not suitable for this model of car. However the next time will be enough to switch the cluster on the end without any new codification as it has been already done once.

maybe...or maybe my dealer is. Nick and I where both told that this procedure required special eqiupment and of course a dealer that will accept to do it. My dealer didn't even want to negotiate it...I have found someone in Germany, but I feel going back to the dealer and put some pressure on them.

So Marco, can you guide us in a couple of sentences what are the key steps that dealers need to follow ?

congrats looks great !!

Sure, very easy. They plugged the car to the computer used for the CIP programming. On the computer monitor, right side, it appears the list of car CIP. Scroll down and find Combi. Than they should start the initializing procedure for the cluster codification. (it takes about 3 minutes to do that) Once having initialized and recognised that the cluster is suitable for the car on the monitor appears the icon codify. Now switch the two clusters and press enter. The computer will now codify the new cluster "thinking" that he does it on the old one. After abt. other 3 minutes everything is done.
Easy, isn't it?
