M5 Gear Knob on SMG cars DONE

Yes that is correct. Inside the M5 knob there are LEDs for the backlighting, as well as individual LEDs for the R, N, D -/+ positions.
The problem is that the corresponding LEDs in the trim panel of an SMG car are electronically switched on and off in a completely different way and so right now, on Kigerka's car, the M5 knob does not duplicate the R, N, D Leds of the trim panel....
HOWEVER, and there is always a however
, I didn't have time to figure it out at the Holland meet but I think there is a way to do it and it can be done in the wiring adapter that I made. I don't think there is any need to bastardise the M5 gear knob at all.
Thing is I can't test my theory until I get back to England because all my tools and connectors are there, but on paper, it will work. In which case, I'll be sending a new harness to Kigerka so that he can change it around.
Kigerka wanted to keep the shift pattern LEDs on the trim panel working, but assuming the LED pattern on the M5 knob will work, it is up to you to decide if you want the trim panle LEDs working as well or not. It is only a case of connecting the trim panel connector to the wiring adapter or not.
Anybody on this forum from Vancouver that has an SMG car????

Hummm so can you have BOTH lit up in theory... the M5 SMG knob selection LEDs AND the existing center console LEDs? If so I'm GAME! hahah robert wants just one and I want both... we're so hard to please...

You'll plug in all the connectors, and Robert will leave one out. I am ITCHING to get back home so that I can make the revised wiring harness....... Maybe I should get a travelling toolbox of parts and take it with me everywhere I go.... May have to ask my wife to FedEx some parts to me here.... I almost can't wait anymore...
