Does anyone know if the e60 m5 gauge cluster can be fitted on a regular 530?

Short answer...Yes. We have a few members in Eurpoe who have retrofited these gauges to 520i's.

The cluster has to be de- and re-coded.

If you just install it will give a transmission warning if you have an auto (because the M5/M6 is of course a SMG). The warning disappears when you put the lever in step-tronic, but then you have to shift manually All the functions work fine (incl. the lights)

For just daily, home-work traffic I like to drive in auto and I don't like any warning signs popping up. So I didn't keep it installed. But the looks are great!!!

I have an appointment to get the cluster de-and recoded next friday

Also 2 Italians on 530i and 545i.

I found a cluster I might actually be able to get at an affordable price. The only thing is that the mileage is a bit off from the one I currently have on my car. Does anyone know if the cluster sets itself to the current mileage the car has or does it stay with the miles from the car it was on????

It will get your current mileage from CAS module and DME

this applies for a used cluster.

when coded, the cluster assumes the vin of your car and mileage is shown correctly.

So it will show the current mileage? Does it immediately show it or is there anything I'd need to bring it to the dealer and have it set?
