Hello folks .

I finally got the M5 fender swap done. I will still need to do some minor adjusting and get some new fasteners from the dealer to finish the mod.
It wasn't a straight forward job, because I didn't change the my OEM mtech front bumper to an M5 bumper along the fenders. Lots of time went to fixing the lines of the different body panels involved (front doors, hood, side skirts and the front bumper).

I'll take better pics later AND will make a DIY with pics .

Here's a comparison pic, not the best to show the difference though:

And here's another:

Did you measure how much wider it is? I have always wondered the exact difference between M5 and non M5 E60s.

It is 10mm wider.

You mean the horizontal clearance between the sidewall of the tyre and the fender? I haven't measured it now, but it's about 17-20mm. I also have my new winter tyres on, and they are 245/40 R19.

If you do go aftermarket fenders, double check the vendor that the fenders are actually wider. I found some aftermarket M5 look fenders, but they were exactly the same as stock fenders, plus the grille holes. And yet think twice. Fitting these things can be a PITA so the form of the fenders must be 100% correct.

Only 10mm? For some reason, it looks more than that to me, lol.

Very interesting. Seems like it may not be worth the trouble to get them to fit right?
