I kinda figured the best might be in Daytona, since that is the host of the huge IASCA competition every year.

As for what I want to do on stereo? Well, there is what I would want..... and what is probably possible, and they are likely 2 different things.

Ideally, I would have a set of ImageDynamics CD2-Comp horns up front.... with some 8 inch woofers in the front kick panels... and probably a single 12 inch subwoofer in an aperiodic membrane enclosure. It's hard to find a stereo shop that even know what an aperiodic membrane is, let alone how to build one.

I would want to rip out the factory source unit, and replace them with something decent..... yet mantain the navigation and bluetooth functionality. (fat chance)

Sorry had to jump in. I lived in O-town for about 10 yrs...Dr. Phillips. Still have family there. Miss it but like the change of seasons and climate of North Carolina.

I highly doubt daytona has anything good. That place is beyond ghetto and I doubt that town will have any type of expertise in installing aftermarket units in complicated cars like the E60. I still think if you call a major rim shop down south they should be able to direct you to a fine audio shop.

Also, I know someone who had those ID horns in the front below the dash and honestly they didnt sound too well. The finest component set I can think of has to be the Boston Pros or even the MB Quart Q series.

Me personally, I wouldnt mind just slapping a JL W3 10 or 12 in the back but my stock components suck . The more I think of the cost for audio mods the more I get discouraged and want to do some exterior mods, audio adds up QUICK

BTW You going to IASCA this year?

anyone know how to do this...i just bought one,but im not sure how to install it

So, do *you* still need to know how to do this, or are you going to be chatting about the East Coast all day?!?

I just installed my footrest. It's a b*tch to remove but will come off.
1) As you can see from the M footrest you bought, there is an attached, molded clip at the top. The stock footrest also has this so you'll have to slide the footrest to the right to remove it.

2) BMW used some really strong glue to hold the foot rest in place. Really, really, strong. You'll have to get something (I have hard plastic, "mini crowbars) under the foot rest to pry it off. Yes -- pull like hell and the foot rest will come off. You will hear some tearing which is the foot rest/glue ripping away from the carpeting. Not sure why BMW decided to use glue -- perhaps to avoid any legal issues with the foot rest coming off while driving.

3) The M foot rest slides right in. I used ultra-strong, industrial double-sided tape to adhere the foot rest to the carpeting.

If you have any further questions, feel free to PM me.

Good Luck.
