Hey guys sorry for the last post I fired off, I angered quite a few... 
I wont to place the exhausts onto a 525i, replace the originals with the attached images below. How will it sound I wonder... will this dumb down the car otherwise loose HP's?

Funny I thought of this before I did my quad, you do have space to mount that on the left side removing your oem muffler, but I'm not sure if it will line the tips up with the bumper opening.

IMO, BMW developed well exhaust for the 525... there must be reason(s) why they didn't fit M5 muffler to all 5-series aside from the coast... so it'll sound like an M5 (maybe slightly less 'cuz only half the side) ... loose power ... maybe ... if you want power go w/ RPi exhaust it's dyno proven.

I never did this to a BMW but when I put a RS6 catback exhaust to my old Audi S6 I got an awesome sounding car. On the downside it felt a little weaker on low rev's. Never dyno'd it though so I don't know if it really lost power but sure felt like it.
Also had an A8 4,2 where I just replaced the final can with a Remus dito. That setup gave a better sound and no noticeable change in the power band.
I guess in your case that you'll also get a nicer sound but it's difficult of course to know for sure what will happen with the powerband. If you already have the muffler though why not just give it a try? No big deal to go back to stock if you don't like it.

I wouldn't do it (if you're aiming for an M5 soundtrack). The M5 sounds the way it does because of the V10; an inline-6 running an M5 muffler won't give you that signature V10 wail. At best, you'll only enhance the sewing machine strum of the inline-6.
I'd check out aftermarket mufflers if power (although not much) is your goal like the OP suggested ... RPi, Dinan, RDSport, etc.
