I have M135 wheels on my E61. I got the car washed today, and then decided to give the wheels and tires some extra attention.

When I was done, I checked out my work, and noticed that it seems that I have two different color wheels. Meaning that two of them are slightly darker than the other two. I even had my wife check this out and she verified what I saw.

AFAIK, these wheels only come in one color - silver finish. Or?

Is it possible that brake dust has darkened the wheels?

If anyone has a comment, I would be happy to hear. I am a bit puzzled by this!

It happens to me everytime before washing my E60 due to the brake dust. After washing the wheels and wiping them clean, the wheels go back to their silver finish.

Ok, but the thing is that when my wheels are dirty, you don't notice the color difference. Once they are clean, it is obvious that two of them are shiny silver, and the other two are are almost a gun metal grey color!

It is not that big of a deal because these are my winter wheels/tires, but I wonder how this is possible. I am the second owner, so perhaps the original owner bought two non-OEM wheels.

Mysteries...

Could be non-OEM or perhaps they had some curb rash and the previous owner had them refinished. That could account for a slight color difference as well...
