ECF is right, anybody that paid more than $1100 for both paint and install got ripped off. it take about 3 hours to install the kit.

jzcrna, you definitely paying too much, i hope you dont have money to burn like that. being that you local, theres a lot of body shop that do better work than the so called bmw authorized body shop. im actually friends with swith a couple of mechanics over at fields bmw and they have told me that reason they send people over the so called authorized shop is because is part owned by Fields. me and the guys over at CFBMW.org use http://www.samuelsauto.com/ he's the best in town, i know its a bit far from orlando(sanford) but their work is awesome. theres also another shop by the millenia that also great work.
Thanks Nelson. I'll just consider it a learning experience. Just consider it my stimulus package for the economy.

Sanford is far away from me. I probably just should have brought it so the local shop, but oh well.

After it is on, I will not care.

Last summer, I paid $2500 for a full M-tech kit painted and installed at a BMW dealer. In addition, they offered me a loaner (5er) and $200 to buyback the stock bumpers. So, I ended up paying less. At that time, quad_m (a vendor who is no longer here) was selling the same kit painted for $1,9xx. For me, it was worth to have someone installed the kit for me, as I had no time. Good luck with your body shop search.

How easy is it? Do the parts come with a step by step, or has someone posted a procedure out here somewhere? Any tools needed other that what most of us have in our garage? What about access under the car - would you need to put it up on stands, or could you install while it sits on the tires?

Thanks, this has been a curiosity for me for a while.

I'm in NJ. Which dealer did you use?

Did you look at my reply to your posting on the other thread?

I got mine done at Dan's Autobody and it costs $800 for everything. Paint matching is not a problem since they go by BMW's paint code. I was very pleased with the result that I had them done the M5 trunk finisher and deck lid spoiler in addition to the body kit.
I'm investigating an M-Tech kit as well here in San Diego, and I got a quote of $1000 just to paint from a Caliper Collision body and paint shop I've had previous work done at on my old Corvette. Gave me a speal about the process saying it's not that easy and you need to match the paint as it has faded if not new. Mine is an '05 545 and I'm sure here in sunny SoCal the original paint has faded. Also, they give you a lifetime warranty on the paint. Not that I like spending more, but is the job everyone is getting just as good? How long are the paint warranties good for?

Any body knows a good body shop in the Houston area? I have been planning to get at least the front changed to the kit that umnitza is offering but I have not found a shop to do the painting and intallation. The nearest BMW shop is qouting me an arm and a leg to get this done.
