I'm hoping to be getting a M-Tech kit soon, and have been looking for a good shop to do the install. I've tried two local body shops (gaithersburg, md) and neither will do the install (won't install aftermarket parts).

I was wondering if anyone on here in the MD, VA, DC area has any recommendations on a good shop.

Thanks

Ticher BMW has a good price (as of last week) on the MTech kit so i would check with them how much they would charge for the entire kit/paint/install package. never know, might be a good deal but at least you have a starting price.

Let us know how it turns out

Thanks, I haven't tried the dealerships yet. I'll give them a look.

Is the M-Tech Kit considered 'aftermarket' even though it has a BMW part # as the M-Aerodynamics retrofit?

BMW of Fairfax body shop. Just had mine installed and painted their. They make sure everything fits properly and that there are not any gaps or uneveness... plus they work on these cars for a living so you know it will be done properly. Also, very nice people... ask for Peter. I negotiated with them and got them to drop their price a little. I got the front M-tech bumper and side skirts painted and installed for $600. Good luck in your decision.

I was confused by this as well, the response I received was since it was not part of the car originally than it was considred aftermark.

Wow just checked out VOB BMW in Rockville,

M Aerodynamic Kit-For vehicles without PDC (PN: 51 71 0 433 920)
(Price: $1,870.00) Installed Price: $4,680.25

Which works out to 2810.25 for the install????

Is that what you guys are paying?

That's too much. Some members are very handy so it's for them a DIY. U can save a lot of money then.
Here in Holland there are shops (no not the stealer dealer ) which does the whole job (kit, paintjob and installation) for ? 1800,- approx $ 2270

Agreed. That's high. I mean you are looking at paint as well as install, but almost 3 G's to put it on....? That's a lot. If you got it like that then you got it...but I'd either find someone else (perhaps try to convince the other body shops that it isn't 'aftermarket' by giving the BMW part #) or give it a shot yourself. Let us know what you decide...either way good luck and can't wait to see it installed.

Did you purchase the kit from them as well? I wonder if that's why they gave you a break on the price. VOB was over $2k for the install. That seems crazy!
