seems like good deal at $400 BUT IT NOW . not sure if its a genuine BMW part but looks like the oem adapter. cheap way of getting DVD video and backup cameras into your car.

anyone know if the cars software needs to be reprogramed in order to use this setup ?

that looks like the unit the dominc from from NY. I have that unit and I have not installed it yet, but many have and have great reviews about it. I think its NAVANDTV2GO.

To avoid any BMW warranty issues, your best bet would be the ACM unit.
