Low budget upgrade standard OEM audio
Hi Guys,
Have been reading most posts about upgrading the standard audio system but not quite found what I am looking for.
I have a 2008 530i with standard stereo (6 speakers,no AMP). I plan on doing the following:
Basically, the above setup is similar to a Hifi pro set-up. I know it is not optimal but would like to know whether this will work. Especially whether the existing leads to the subwoofers can be used as input for the amp (via LOCs). Since this is very high impedance I expect this will not give any issue even though these leads are in parallel with the door speakers and new tweeters.
Cheers,
Pim.

I have a 2008 530i with standard stereo (6 speakers,no AMP). I plan on doing the following:
- Add Tweeters, can be plugged into mid frequency speaker
- Replace mid frequency speakers with those coming from Hifi Pro system
- Put Hifi Pro Subwoofers beneat both seats
- Use existing cabling from head unit to subwoofers as input signal for amp, should be ok as I assume these contain low frequencies. This means I simply need to extend them to my trunk where the amp will be located
- Route new speaker cables from amp to subwoofers
Basically, the above setup is similar to a Hifi pro set-up. I know it is not optimal but would like to know whether this will work. Especially whether the existing leads to the subwoofers can be used as input for the amp (via LOCs). I have the standard US Hi-Fi with 10 speakers and used this upgrade method. I'm very pleased with it.

Update
Replaced all 4 midrange speakers with Logic 7 ones and add 2x Logic 7 tweeters in the front. Improves audio quality a bit allthough front midrange speakers are still in parallel to underseat and therefore bass is still not very clean.
If I wanted to install MS-8, is there a place in Europe to get a wiring harness for the standard audio system (not the hifi system, as I do not have an AMP in the back (yet))? Would like to have a wiring harness to get access to the front speakers signals in the booth and feeding the amplifier outputs back to the front to re-use existing speaker cables...
Cheers,
Pim.
