I have the Dinan and it functions well. Better than stock at least.. Might end up going with an AFE at some point just to give it a fair dyno and see where it stands with respect to the Dinan.

If I wanted off the line power I would have kept my Hennessey ctsv, hot air, cold air it hauled ass! (11's)
This 550i is just a daily driver, economical (lol), comfortable iPad with an engine on it(as my lsx shop said)
Plus or minus 10hp won't make a difference to me, I think the 550i is "safe" power, meaning Dtc off and floor it the rear doesn't skate across the lanes, or risk of too much pedal on the highway, no steering required. Add 10 even 15 hp still doesn't make it scary, still a high 13 or 14 second car and slower than 109mph trap..

I read a multiple intake tests on the 335i, so many out there defeating myths of cai vs open filters. My $40 BMS filters sound great, made power, no CEL. Car was so much fun wife took it and I had to go find another project

Agree with you guys ess sc is the best sounding and best performing intake! Talking low 12s maybe, now were talkin!

Adding some intake sound would be great! appreciate the feedback and I like the dry filter idea over the bmc kn oil ones in the past.
**The Afe intakes that sound good and take in warm air, nobody is getting CEL codes right?
**Afe version matter for sound?
**and who is selling cheap bc it sucks warm air?
**Also need some m6 offset wheels!

this is my first summer in houston coming up with the AFE stage 2 intake in my car with throttle body spacer connnected to it... ill let you guys know if i enconter heat soak...

also i added the CIA, throttle body spacer and RPI GT exhaust all at the same time. so i noticed an increase in power. but i dont know how much the CIA played into it.

it is possible to do both of those together, but performance-wise youre better off just going with the RPI scoop with an aftermarket filter (there is a package available consisting of the RPI scoop and a BMC filter), or if you have a V8 model then with the Dinan intake with the RPI scoops.

i have the scoops and the AFE stage two CIA. seems to work fine, not sure which set up would give more power

I saw that option when I was looking around. I do have the V8, but the Dinan will be a little too pricey than I am willing to spend on an intake system. The car already hauls enough ass for me lol.

I may do this. I mainly want the sound of an intake, but also not decrease performance at the same time, which is why I was thinking about adding the RPi scoops. Do you have any pics/videos of the intake set up?
