thats great to see that a reflash program is available now. Hotlap, this plugs into the obd and you simply reflash your ECU.

I knew in the past, on my audis with Revo programming, you would still have to take the car to a Revo dealer and get the base flash, before you could use the portable map changer.

Thats what you'll have to do. Add your own engine management system, I wonder what horsepower freaks in Oregon has done? nothing wrong with 45 wheel HP at the flip of a switch. Also that system will let you upgrade if and when you change out turbos

Not to nit-pick but all the IL6 TT tuning are not flash based, they are all "piggyback" systems where the box create a virtual environment to the main ECU. Be Xede, Procede, JB or TT.

Not sure when the flash based will be available if ever, in flash based the tuner reload the tweaked S/W code into the main ECU. Thus the tuner has to reverse engineer tyhe S/W code of BMW, not an easy task nowdays.

I am still on the sideline since all these limp modes on the currrent "piggyback", maybe they'll get better overtime.

Dinan's Software will be out by X-Mas and will provide 40+ hp and 60-80 lb ft of torque. Cost will be over $1k and under $2k

That's encouraging. I hope it will have the typical Dinan warranty coverage.

I'm confused?! Does this work but not reliable? I never heard of this company, is the Dinan mod worth waiting for?

i must be more tired when I read it, I glanced at it and misinterpreted this:

"By working through a collaborative effort with Chip Torque, Active is able to upload the Xede processor through a proprietary firmware with specific Active Autowerke tuning files." I guess it still is a piggyback with the ability to load other maps into it without removing the piggy.

giac mentioned that they were working on reflashing the BMW through the OBD, but i havent kept up on it. I liked them ever since they got it right for the S4
