Hi, I have a E60 528i, 2008. I want to upgrade my audio systems to logic7.

Q1) Can I buy E90 logic7 amp instead of E60, no problem when reprogramming?
I don't think CIC check the ID code from logic7 amp while reprogramming. Am I right?
That's because I can easily find many used logic7 amps for E90 on the eBay.

Q2) Can I buy E90 individual amp, no problem when reprogramming?
Isn't it better? The more power, the more quality?

Yes, I have to change all the speaker wiring and speakers for new logic7 amp, it's a tough job.

Great thanks.

The E90 Top HiFi OEM amp is the same P/N of the E60 Top HiFi amp, so that's no issue. Replacing the speakers is a non issue as well, although you will need an extra 2 speaker mounts. Coding your iDrive to output audio thru MOST is not an issue as long as you find the proper software tools to do this.

However, the re-wiring could be an issue as the 20-pin connector required to install the Top HiFi amp is not in your E60. That includes laying out the MOST fiber optic cables and connectors from your iDrive as well. The Individual Audio amp can be retrofitted as well, but this amp requires the Individual Audio speakers as their impedance is completely different from the Logic7 speakers'; the wiring is identical.

By the time you finish paying and installing all this you will realize that the sound improvement does not equal the investment and effort, IMO.

If you want Logic7 right now in your E60 you should get a JBL MS-8, replace all your speakers (at least the fronts and underseat woofers) add a center speaker, and a clean 4-channel amp (minimum) and that's it.

Thanks Technic,

1. I found good item from eBay, 65 129 177752 but only support SERIES 1(E87 E88 E81 E82) & SERIES 3(E90 E91 E92 E93).
But no support 5 series E60. This is my concern.

2. I found another one, 65 127 842019 it supports E60 too, but it's an Individual amp. I am worried if I can use it with BSW Stage 1 speakers of 4 ohm impedance.

I just want fully amplified audio systems not only for Logic7 functions while maintaining minumum changes of vehicle structure and harness.
BSW speakers could be the optimum solution.
Anyway I'll check JBL MS-8 too.
