I'm considering Suntek tint for my new 2007 530xi. I had Llumar tint on my E39 530i (35%) and I loved it. I've been told that Suntek comes from the same raw material that Llumar comes from, but bc Llumar has been around for 30+ years in the business, they charge about 1/3 more (more brand recognition than anything else).

Anyone move from Llumar to Suntek or have any advice on which they prefer?

Ya i just got Suntek tint on my IS and the film looks great. I asked the installer what the differences were and he said not much. haha Most films now a days have improved a lot and will not peel, fade, and is scratch resistant etc etc. This perticuliar Suntek film has "lifetime warranty" so I'm ok with it.

I got Madico Char-kool tint on the E60 and that film is also fine. Hasn?t faded just as dark as it was from day 1.

BUT my parents Mercedes has Llumar tint on it and both me and my dad have noticed that its lighter than what it was on day 1. So I don?t know.

I'm just saying what I've noticed. As for Suntek becoming lighter over time I don?t know yet. Its too soon to tell. The one sample I saw was on the Installers WRX and he said its been on for a little over a year and it seemed ok. For $150 5 windows I didn?t care really. The E60 costed me $215.

Was it Suntek Carbon? I was going to go with that initially but decided on Formula One.

This is great stuff. Thanks for all the info. I think I'm going to go with Suntek this time around. He wants $200 for Suntek and $300 for Llumar. Pretty easy decision...

Thanks again EBMC!

What is the difference between formula one and Suntek carbon. I've seen some mercedes that have a tint that is a little bluish not really dark and not blue but just bluish i wonder if it woul dlook good on my monaco blue metallic. I will be posting pics of my car stock and will be installng all my mods soon after i receive my vehicle from my dealer my car arrives 5/28 in San Diego i just don't get why it will take 3 days to arrive in to the VPC in Oxnard. Anyway its getting closer and closer.

Forumla One and Llumar are made by the same company. It's just that Formula One is their top of the line tint. Its direct competitor is Huper Optik. Both Formula One and Huper Optik are ceramic tint and $$$$.

Suntek Carbon is a dyed-based tint if my memory recalls. But, it is not like the dye tints of old, the Carbon is guaranteed not to turn purple and does not contain any metal which might interfere with your NAV and/or AM reception.

I had the suntek carbon 35% put on my 2006 530i and it looks great! Charged me $200 for all the windows except front windshield. Thought that was a fair price. Has the lifetime warranty for original owner. Covers fading, peeling, cracking, adhesive failure and delamination. I would recommend it. When it comes down to it, the type of tint and % means nothing if the person that applies it does'nt do a good job.

Jijio i lke your titnt even though its 50% i think it looks great, im not sure of going to dark on my monaco blue maybe 35 or 30 but now that i see your 50% i think a lighter tint on a darker color woul dlook awesome.
