You would be HAPPY going that route.
HID reverse plus backup cam ftw.

And I don't remember having to "destroy" the anything to do HID reverse install... and I have done it a number of times for other people as well.

I did my HID reverse lights making my own kit and everything can be put back to OEM, nothing destroyed.

I have LED reverse lights and mine are super bright. I used a 12 LED panel and a resistor. search for it in the DIY section I posted it in there.

I got projector LED on my car, they are bright but not that bright
Or you can try HID reverse light

Finally i made my own LED's for the reverse light.
Now i can say i do have reverse lights.

In the movie you can see the difference when I cover one after another the 2 lamps http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=AxAbXkvR6Vk
On the driver's side was the new LED lamp, on the passenger side was the OEM incandescent bulb(you can see almost no light).
