I have not been able to get a definite answer to this which is for lease turn in do you have to have the EXACT same tire as you bought it on there or do you need the same category or what.

For example if you got a summer run flat tire like the dunlop 01s-can you turn it in with another summer tire non runflat or another summer tire run flat or does that not owrk.

Also what about if you live in a climate that snows and your lease ends in winter-do they expect you to turn a car in with summer tires? They wouldnt even be able to sell it with them-I have a/s tires on and will not go back to summers until lease end if necessary but would rather not.

Can anyone who has leased confirm what tires or if they care

haha not quite yet-15 more months but I like to plan ahead. Me and my friend actually split the cost of the supercharger and he is getting it after I turn my lease in to put on his 525. My car was the guinee pig

Thanks rudy-helpful as always. I see what you meant in that thread though-still no clear answer. I am shocked with so many people leasing here and all their car experience nobody has come across this-especially at the rate people seem to change out their original tires. Guess I will just have to see. thanks a lot

I really think it all comes down to the individual dealership. In my experiences, when I turned in leased cars, they looked at the tread depth but didn't look at the type of tire. Then again, my cars have always been in exceptional condition so the lease end inspection has been a very quick one since it's obvious that I cared for the car way more than the "normal" customer. They usually comment on how great the condition is and tell me some horror stories about what condition some of the other cars they see turned in...

I suppose it also helps if you've just leased a new one -- it wouldn't be very smart for them to start nickel and diming people who are loyal, long-term customers now, would it?

I have turned in many leases, and I have never been questioned on the tires. Usually, they turn the lease turn-in process over to independent contractors who visit you and look for "material" issues.

If you change tire type, just make sure that the new tire is in the same general category of quality. Most tires at the higher sizes will usually do. Obviously, if you have RFs, you need to have RFs.

I plan to chance turning my lease in with the H&R lowering springs on them. Because I have a non-sport, I hope that I am not penalized.

The idea is that you do not destroy the car in some material way so that the manufacturer will suffer a major problem in collecting its residual.

Normal wear and tear can mean many things, and different dealers (and BWM financial) act different ways to things. As Rudy stated, if you are a repeat buyer, you will get great leniency.

Good luck.

Not so sure that it's as obvious as you claim. This is precisely what we've been talking about in this and other threads and I think it all comes down to the concept of "YMMV."

If you lease, then modifying your car is tricky, you must return the car in its original state, except for normal wear and tear, BMW is very leniant. Regarding tires, you can change brands, i.e. Bridgestone or Dunlop, but they must be same size and style/rating; in other words you must bring her back with RF. they do not have to be new, just some tread.
