A comparison of the LCI wires schematic and my pre-LCI 12/2003 built '04 car. Notice how the the 8-pins connector is exactly the same color for the left headlight. The right headlight is bit different. The smaller 4-pins wires are different colors compared to mines.

Root,

Thanks - am going to be with you all the way until you get the lights to work! Its a very tough upgrade not as initially advertised as just a plug a play! not that easy.. and this is probably the reason BMW put it on hold. My dealership had to call Germany 13 times to get eveything to work right! I think that when BMW put this kit out they did not realize that the manual was so not clear, they also did not address the issue with different wire colors on the pre 2005 production cars.
For instance the software for recoding the LM is not available on BMW's system under retrofit as with any other update. They have all the software for this specific kit under Conversion (no mention of that in the manual). Another puzzling issue is Brake Force Display - when you install this kit, you will have to recode with the software that includes BFD or the lights will not work right (again this is not clearly mentioned in the manual)

This is probably why they now have the whole kit on hold - whoever put this kit together did not think out of the box when producing the manual for it.

BMW Germany even asked my dealership about where they got the kit from since no kits were sent to kuwait!

Take care
M.

The route for me:

- LCI LED taillights
- Bruce's retrofit cable
- Slightly used eurospec pre-LCI headlights from Europe

~$1,600
Hey ECF where did you buy your LCI taillights? I want to buy a pair but don't know where to get a good price on them... The dealer prices seem rediculous.

I got them as part of the group buy that was set up by Alex.br through Roveractive. I think total cost was about $420 shipped. They are the eurospec LCI taillights with the amber turn signals. The group buy has been long over but you might want to check with Garry Romani from BMW of Newport since he's offering 25% discount for E60.net members:

Then you'd have to get the retrofit cables from Bruce which will run you approx $350 due to the exchange rates.

Hi Sideeffects,

I have a pair of the new LCI tail lights which are brand new - the left one was used for testing on my other car but is in a mint condition. if you might be interested, will be glad to sell them to you.

Take care

Hi EuroCarfan,

I have a pair of the pre-LCI AHL headlights in mint condition - with the protective plastic film. They are complete with the xenon bulb and ignitor / ballast, and LCM. They are the Euro spec lights that have the white corner signal lights. Will give you a good deal on them if you are interested.

Will post a pic for you if you would like.

Take care
M.
