Well, now that the coilovers had settled, I've noticed a soft rubbing, clunking noise coming from the passenger rear. I thought WTF now? So, off came the wheel and crawled under and inspected every angle around the pss10's, nothing. CO's were tightly fitted top to bottom, perches were tight, springs snug, no scratch nor dings and dents anywhere around wheel space.
Guess wot the f***ing noise came from? Battery loosely fitted by dealer! I could rock it with my fingers and it's clunking against the side panel. I gues with the CO, ride is stiffer and will expose/magnify anything loose. I used a piece of wood and secured battery down tight, test drove and.....NO MORE NOISE!
I dont think this is harmful to the battery b/c there's no moving parts, nor will it get too hot.

i realize this thread is old, but now that you've driven on these things for a while can you comment on ride quality of the PSS10? i am considering putting them on the lady's DD 530i so i need something that we're both happy with.

Thanks, forgot about this thread. After 18 months, i cant be any happier with this setup. i am now running different wheel/tire setup 19" and i gotta say i wouldn't change a thing. My wife having been used to my ride, has been eyeing a 3 series and said it's not low enough when she saw a stock photo of 328i on cars.com!!! LOL and this is a woman who wanted a divorse b/c of all the money i poured into modding 2 years ago.
I drive it hard and showboat daily, taking the same corner near work hard, not a tight corner. 135 degrees corner and entering at 45 mph and pushing envelep a bit more each time (I am no pro, never had any performance driving). Same corner where traffic is always light. Leaving everyone and everything in the dust.
PSS10's are still very stiff but paired with the right wheel/tire setup....perfection.
I really think the PSS10s are more hardcore than KW's, which is more refined. Two factors i wento with BIlstein over KW's: 1. Monotube do not get heat up, after reading some comps against the twin tube design of the KW's. but really, our DD will not push the limits of any modern CO's.
Secondly, KW's raised their margins by $200 making KW v2 same as the PSS10's at the time of decision.
Good luck.

so if stock ride quality (in terms of compliance over pot holes, rough roads, etc) is a 10, where would you put the PSS10s?
My E30 on H&R race springs and bilstein sports still rides like a dream 10 years after the parts were put on. i dare say it rides smoother than a lot of stock suspensions ive sampled over the years. id like to get a similar result with the E60 when i change things out.
