Hey fellow E60'ers,

I was wondering if anyone else is having a similar problem. I have an Escort X50 Laser/Radar detector and everytime I honk, it seems to go nuts, (flashing LASER and beeping as if I've been marked). This happens when I'm driving or even if I'm parked and I honk. I never had this problem in my old car. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it a BMW issue or is it time to retire my detector?

Is it hardwired? If so, where do you have it wired?

Sounds more like a short somewhere.

I have an Escort SRX radar/laser, and it does the same thing. It's a known problem with some hardwired Escort models. You can contact Escort and they _may_ be able to fix it, but they don't promise anything.

I have the Escort/Passport 8500 X50 (red), but no problems from me. I have it hardwired as well.

NOPE! Not hardwired, I'm using the cigarette lighter adapter that came with it. Has anyone experienced this with a detector that is not hard wired?
