K&N Air Filter review
so i just bough mine came in then inspect it see the cloth seems to be thinner than the paper once
it is obviously thinner thats why it breath better.
my concern is that i heard romour that K&N intake destroy your engine.
oh i also got the chochoal( how u spell it? LOL ) filter removed
so bring to the last question. does it really harm the engine or the engine perform better ??
thanks !

I have an E60 530i with the M54 motor and a 6MT. This week, I installed a K&N FilterCharger in preparation for a cat-back exhaust system installation in the near future. Power seems to come on earlier (at lower RPMs). In 6th or 5th gear especially, I can pass or climb with less need for down-shifting. Note that I'm not claiming more power total, just that engine power is available at a little lower RPMs than before.
I have a minivan with a 3.4L V6 GM motor on a K&N FilterCharger (and Mobil 1) for over 100,000 miles. The engine's mileage is currently 125,000 and it is still running fine and pulling. I use this vehicle to pull a trailer with two ATVs/quad-bikes. One ATV (Yamaha Raptor) is also on a K&N for about 4 years now, running in shallow water and dusty trails. No problem with either the minivan or the Raptor. The trick is to keep the K&N media oiled (but not over-oiled/drippy) and washed as needed.

the filter will not harm the engine. I know there were rumors about the possibility of over-oiling the filters after washing if one decides to keep and re-use the filter, which would make the O2 sensor faulty.
in terms of the BMC, most prefer the BMC mainly because of the greater surface area of actual filter. both the BMC and K&N are good filters though no doubt, and we carry both
