My Ride: I GOT A 2007 TITANIUM GRAY/AUBURN LEATHER 545I 6SPD MANUAL. COLD WEATHER PACKAE, PREMIUM, PREMIUM SOUND LOGIC 7, SPORT.
Off course i unerstand that the K40 is probably better, but is it that much better for the money? I have the Valentine right now, and it is perfect. I am confused.
Doctor Diesel, woah, it's been a while since I've seen you here. How've you been?
The Valentine 1 is the best there is. They also come out with upgrades all the time, just call them to ask about your serial number and find out if they've got a new upgrade for your unit.

He's probably been busy doing some 'doctoring' to pay for his car!

Valentine 1 is better than K40.
Better detection. No installation required. You can move it to other cars.

Thanks to Jimbo for pointing me to some new research sources. Unfortunately there were no direct actual comparisons between K40 hardwired remote system (sensors mounted at front and rear bumpers) and the V1. Most of these comparisons were between a $200 K40 window mounted unit and other detectors. And one was a forum where someone made an indirect comparison between a K40 Laser system to a V1 radar detector.
Looks like I?ll be the guinea pig. I am convinced through reading the articles listed below and my own needs that the hardwired remote stealth K40 is what I need. I?ll then put my V1 in the 6er as well and do my own, albeit unscientific, comparison. Look for this sometime in February.
I?ll keep a watch on e60.net for any further discussion on radar detectors in the meantime.
List of articles found on the K40 web site:
Muscle_Mustangs_and_Fast_Fords_Article.pdf ; European-Car-Article.pdf; Eurotuner_Article.pdf; Corvette Enthusiast Article.pdf; Modified-Article.pdf
BMW_ON.pdf (motorcycle install); Corvette Fever Article.pdf; Car-and-Driver.pdf
Motortrend-Online-Article.pdf ; Speed_Style_and_Sound.pdf; RPM-Article.pdf
Auto Electronics Article.pdf; The_Porsche_Enthusiast.pdf
