So I was getting some service done at the dealer and also having them investigate a wierd sound comin from the engine. The service guy called me and asked me in this suspicious voice "what kind of filter is this in here, it is obviously not a bmw filter." He made it sound like he was entertainin the idea of saying some how they would not look or fix the problem because I had a KN airfilter.

Funny thing is they sell dinan products there and he even tried to sell me dinan stuff by a corny line of "do you want more horsepower while your car is in teh shop." Dinan uses KN filters in their airboxes so I do not get why this guy was so baffled by me having a KN filter. He did not see the RPI scoop or who knows what he would have thought!

Funny thing too about how some dealers hate aftermarket stuff. I have a supersprint muffler on which is 10 pound lighter than the stock muffler. I have had some vibration comin from my exhaust area and one of the hangers looked out of wack. He called me today and tried to tell me the problem is because of "the weight of your aftermarket exhaust." I was like, excuse me, it weighs 10 pounds less than the stock can, I am pretty sure it is not the problem!

Dont get why some people are like that.

When I had my 3 series I had a cold air intake on it and I had issues with the MAF one day and the car was under the CPO warranty and my dealership fixed the issue under warranty they even told me that they thought it might be an issue with my cold air intake. Tell them to prove to you that the issue is caused by your K&N if they can't prove it they have to fix it.

It's not some people, it's dealers. They try to find as many ways as possible not to cover a warranty part and save money by blaming the fault on you.

That's correct. It falls on their responsibility to prove it.

THey are working on it, its just annoying. It is still under factor warranty and had nothing to even do with the intake system or anything. Sounded like an exhaust leak actually but thats niether here nor there. Point is its really stupid with a simple filter that dinan used for many years. I understand a entire CAI MAYBE but a filter-come on!
