There have been much discussion on the K&N air filter impact on the MAF sensor. I have also read K&N assurance that using K&N air filter will not have any negative impact on the sensor. However, my MAF sensor did get bonkered after using the air filter for 6 months. The reason may not be due to the K&N, but I just wanna do a survey how many of you did experience such failure after using K&N.

Never a problem here and it's been over a year. However, I now am running an AFE CAI, so the drop box filter is no longer in the car.

cant quite see the fuss over a K and N air filter. Tried them in another BMW and found them to be a pain in the @#$@@@. Went back to BMW OEM filters and frankly do not notice a difference. Would love to see test data that suggests that they truly are beneficial beyond a couple HP that no one will truly notice.

Did the MAF get bonkered becaue of oil from the K&N filter - did you ever oil the filter in 6 months? Over oiling the K&N can kill the MAF.
Have you tried cleaning the MAF with cleaning spray?

I did not re-oil the filter, it was only about 13,000 Km into it. The dealership just changed the whole sensor. But now that my warranty is over, I just wanna be on the safe side. From the responses I received so far, K&N was an unlikely culprit. Perhaps it was just unfortunately that my MAF sensor got fried.

Its worlds apart between K&N'd and no K&N. I suspect I will still go for it even if I K&N was the culprit
