Thumbs down

Hi All

BMW have just release the latest ETK - parts database with data as of 22 March 2005. I have now found the NEW PART NUMBERS for all combinations of colours for the hinged cover, cubby hole that is located on the driver's side of the dashboard.

Here is the image of the part in question (taken from Ianni's post in the General forum - thanks Ianni in advance!)

JUST RELEASED - NEW PART NUMBERS-ianni_image.jpg

Here is the COMPLETE list of parts for both LEFT and RIGHT hand drive cars. One point I should mention: I have already ordered the part for my own car BUT UNTIL it arrives, I don't know if it will fit into pre-Week 9/05 cars 100%. From the diagrams, it looks like no problem but until someone has done it... we don't know for sure... The part will arrive in about a weeks time (ordered from Germany I think). The prices for these parts (which should all be the same price) have NOT been setup by BMW GB yet. They needed someone to order it for the first time to get a pricing. Anyway, that has now been done and as soon as they phone me with the price, I'll put it into this post. Obviously the price will be in GB Pounds but at least it will give you some idea of cost in your own country. If anyone gets a price for the part(s) can you post them here too please? Thanks.

Here goes:

BMW Part Description is : HINGED COMPARMENT IN DASHBOARD

For cars with ANTHRACITE/BLACK/AMETHYST/PASTEL GREEN dashboard plastic colour, you need this:

51.45.7.156.226 - LEFT hand drive (part will be BLACK in colour)
51.45.7.156.964 - RIGHT hand drive (part will be BLACK in colour)

For cars with TRUFFLE BROWN dashboard plastic colour, you need this:

51.45.7.156.229 - LEFT hand drive (part will be TRUFFEL BROWN in colour)
51.45.7.156.967 - RIGHT hand drive (part will be TRUFFEL BROWN in colour)

For cars with GREY dashboard plastic colour, you need this:

51.45.7.156.227 - LEFT hand drive (part will be GREY in colour)
51.45.7.156.965 - RIGHT hand drive (part will be GREY in colour)

For cars with BEIGE 3 dashboard plastic colour, you need this:

51.45.7.156.228 - LEFT hand drive (part will be BEIGE in colour)
51.45.7.156.966 - RIGHT hand drive (part will be BEIGE in colour)

Hope it's clear for all!!!

Mark, if there anyway you can make this a sticky for a few days cos I think a few people will want this parts list so they can order the correct one for their cars??

All the Best

Hobi,

you?re great man! We?re on the same line of mind. I?d like to change this part but there?s one problem; I think the box with lid cannot be retrofitted alone in my oppinion the whole underside (cover of pedals) has to be removed?

Or is it possible, to change the old one against the new without removing the pedal cover? There?re 3 screws I think.

That would RULE. I`d order it tomorrow because this open hole in the dash sucks!

Edit: My englis sucks too....

Harry,

I'm going to take out the existing cubby hole in my car later on this afternoon to have a look what's going on in there.

I don't mind being guinea pig for this - like you I want it NOW!!!!

Your english is better than mein deutsche!

Ok. I was faster now.

I went to the garage and removed the 4 screws; 2 in the box 2 at the underside. The box is hooked in the foot-pedal-cover.

Attention, the lip that stucks hook in the cover can break easy!!!!!

I don?t think I can remove the box without removing this big pedal / steering wheel cover

???

Hi Harry

Yes you are correct. In order to remove the storage tray, you have to remove the trim panel for the pedal assembly first!

Hi Guys

It has now become apparent that it is not going to be possible for peep in the US to fit this part because BMW NA cars don't have the cutout for any of the trays! Saw Kigerka's car a couple of days ago and he didn't have the normal exposed tray - I thought maybe that was peculiar to his car but having spoken with him today, it's for all US models! Howbloody stupid is that?

So, the part numbers listed are only good for non-US cars.

Bummer :bashwall:

Yup. We discussed the retrofit of the cubby many moons ago and determined it wasn't a retrofittable part for US cars. I think the reason they didn't put it on our cars has something to do with knee bolstering/protection in a crash.
